AvaTV: Cribs

On this episode of Cribs, meet Ava. She's a hip, happening 10-week old living in hip, happening Oak Park. Today she invites us into her home to show us around her crib.

Okay, so here's my living room. This is where I spend lots of my time. Eating, sleeping, being walked for hours by my mom and dad, chilling with my other baby friends. Oh, and I usually snuggle with Kate on the couch. She's cool.

Here's the dining room. I heard my mom say that she's trying to enjoy it before she has to put all her things away so they don't get smashed. Not sure what she's talking about. I would never...
wait, is that a wine rack over there?

Here we have the kitchen! I love this place. I pretend to be asleep and mom and dad try to sneak away to eat lunch or dinner. As soon as they set foot in the kitchen, I wake up! Then they have to take turns eating while the other one entertains me. It's a riot.

Moving on, we have the family room. I'm working with an architect on plans to turn this into my toy room. Bye bye, bookcases. Hello, Legoland.

Dad says this is his basement and I can't overtake it. But where am I going to put my autographed Justin Bieber collection (for some reason mom is gagging...)?

Here we have my room. I haven't spent too much time here, yet, because I'm still crashing with M & D. But check it- I have a pretty good library going. Mom says she's going to teach me to read by the time I'm two.
No pressure.

Here's my crash pad. This is where I'm supposed to sleep....

But this is where I like to end up in the morning. Suckers!

Anyway, thanks for checking out my crib. It's time for you to go home!
Peace, love, and sloppy baby kisses,
Ava

Interview with a 2-month old

Today is Ava's two month birthday. Before I got pregnant and had a child, I thought people who noticed/celebrated their child's "month" birthdays were ridiculous. I am now a ridiculous parent. To that end, here is an interview I had with Ava today in commemoration of her 2-month birthday.

Lauren: Thanks for sitting down with me today, Ava.

Ava: Oh, no worries. I had a break in my schedule so, you know, it's cool.

Lauren: So Ava, what have you learned in the first two months?

Ava: Hmmm, that's a toughie. I mean, if I cry, I get held. If I smile, I get held. If I sit there and look pensive, I get held. So that's fun.

Lauren: What did you do to celebrate your two-month birthday.

Ava: Oh, it's a hoot. I played the biggest prank ever on my mom and dad. I slept for TWELVE HOURS last night.

Lauren: That sounds pretty cool to me. How is that a joke?

Ava: Wait, I was still getting to the punchline. Tonight I'm going to pull one of my favorite acts. I'll pretend to fall asleep and as soon as they put me down, my eyes will pop open and I'll scream. You know, just to keep them on their toes. It's so hilarious!

Lauren: Umm, great joke. Ava, how do you stay so grounded with all the attention you get?

Ava: It's a balancing act. I just try to remember where I came from and get back to my roots every once in a while. I just don't want to get too "Hollywood", you know?

Lauren: Good advice for your young fans out there. Question: when are you going to actually accept some tummy time instead of screaming and crying and making your parents feel bad?

Ava: Why would you even ask that? This interview is OVER! (storms out of room)

*At this point in the interview, Ava stormed out and Lauren was left with her tape recorder in hand, wondering where she went wrong. She hopes to garner another interview with the young starlette next month.

Debutante

Ava made her debut among her Grandma & Grandpa P's friends today. Here are some pics to commemorate her "Coming Out" tea on the Goldcoast.

Before we left she had to take a bath. Ava loves getting so fresh and so clean. Mom loves doing her hair during her baths.

She was initally shy and feigned sleep to avoid all the introductions.

There wasn't enough food (this was before most of it was out of the oven)

Auntie Mary knows how to soothe babies. Ava's buying what she's selling.

Mr. T knows how to party. I see lots of golf and OPRF cheering in their future. Ava is thinking, "Why is this guy asking me what Henry is doing in NYC?"

Grandma had to get a turn, natch. "Okay Grandma, if you must".

But most of the time Ava was like this.

Then Mommy left to go to a bachelorette party. Hopefully all the words in this blog are spelled correctly. If not, you can blame an embarassingly small amount of wine.

Hair She Is...

Ava was born with a full head of hair (much to her mother's delight and contrary to the ultrasonagrapher, who, one week before her birth, said there "might" be some peach fuzz on her head). We love all of Ava's hairdos. Above and below is the "Light Socket Look". This is mom's favorite and what her hair naturally does if we don't brush it down. May be spotted with bows or headbands.

Below we have the "Faux Hawk" look. Guaranteed to be popular with the hipsters. The cut under her eye(given to her by her own fingernails/talons), gives her added street cred.

The Elvis, post-bath. He lives! Ava can only tolerate this 'do with the added security of the pacifier.

The smashed down, bath-time look, where I actually have to brush her bangs out of her face. Note the "I'm getting ready to poop in the bathtub" look on her face.

Fuzzy post-bath comb-back look that Art likes for some reason. I think it makes her look like a boy.

The Wall Street side part. Sell! Sell! Sell!

The Cat in the Hat

Ava has many accessories (an inherited gene from her Mom) but she enjoys her hats the most. A sampling of a few:

This one I wore home from the hospital and has matching mittens!

Rocking my Burberry, even though it's a little big. Thanks Alexis!

Hand made pink beanie from my BFF Olivia's mom, Megan!

Channeling my inner Madeline.

Thanks Henry! There's a matching tutu which will probably get it's own post.

This little piggy went oui, oui, oui all the way home. A French joke!

Thanks Janie! This hat also has a matching outfit and socks.

Love this face. And love the hat. Thanks Alexis!

Future Illini.

Thanks Grandma E! Starting to lose it here...

And, we lost it. But love the headband Grandma E!

Chic purple hat from cousins Ryan and Beth. Also has matching socks which are too big for my wee feet.

This hat also has matching booties. Wow, I need to do another accessories post.

Crying continued from here. I hope you enjoyed a few of Ava's hat choices. Stay warm everyone!
